Repair or Replace the Unit?

Jams, reset trips, and flange leaks are repairs. A cracked housing, a seized or burned-out motor, or repeated failures on a unit past its typical 8 to 12 year life mean replacement is the better spend. We repair the common household brands, including GE (General Electric) and InSinkErator units. When we install a new one, we size it to your household, use jam-resistant models, seal the flange properly, and reconnect the dishwasher line the right way. What a Disposal Can and Cannot Handle

Even a good disposal is for food scraps, not everything. Grease, fibrous peels like celery and corn husks, coffee grounds, rice, pasta, and bones shorten its life and clog the line behind it. Run cold water before, during, and after grinding and the unit will last years longer. If we notice the sink or faucet needs attention while we are under there, we’ll point it out and quote faucet and sink repair separately.

My disposal hums but won’t grind. Is it dead?

Water is leaking from under the disposal. Can it be fixed?

Depends on where it leaks. Flange and connection leaks are repairable. A crack in the disposal body itself cannot be sealed reliably, and that unit should be replaced.

How long does a disposal installation take?

A straightforward swap is usually done within about an hour, including checking the drain connections and testing for leaks.
